Bloggers Lovin’ and Hatin’ on Our Posters.

So far, our posters have appeared on hundreds of blogs, and we’ve gotten some interesting comments along the way.

Most of the peeps who like them just reblog and share them with their friends. People who are moved to comment are often angered by the posters, and it’s quite interesting to hear what their take is.  Here is a sampling for you. (You can see our full set  of 200+ screen grabs here.)

A new Fox News Poll shows that 71% of Republicans don’t want Sarah Palin to run for president. So naturally, this is the perfect time to draft this great American into running for the highest office in the land. Won’t you join with us as we make our appeal in simple words of one or two syllables?

New “Dollar Bill Protest” is Gaining Momentum

These bills are showing up everywhere now. And the amazing thing is, the statement above is true. You may recall the recent public discussion about which large corporations have paid no taxes in recent years, largely because of loopholes put in place by Republican legislators. For example, General Electric paid no taxes at all in 2009. Not a small amount. Not a low rate. They literally did not pay a dollar.

This is the sort of protest that one can engage in from the comfort of one’s own home, with a glass of ice tea at one’s elbow. Of course, defacing money is a crime, so PoliticalLoudmouth would never sanction such a thing. Sugar and lemon for you?

New Poster: “No Means Yes. Yes Means Anal. Ass-rape a DKE Today. QED.”

You probably haven’t heard about a recent incident involving the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Yale, in which the pledges paraded around campus threatening other students and chanting, “No means yes! Yes means anal!”

Yale University has suspended the DKE chapter for 5 years, but have these extraordinarily privileged young men learned their lesson? Doug Lanpher, interim executive director of DKE, told The New York Times in response to the ruling:

“We suspended their pledging activities for six weeks so we could review their activities with them. Clearly the chanting was inappropriate, but does it warrant a five-year suspension? While the events were insulting and in poor taste, DKE firmly disputes this to be a legally actionable case of sexual harassment.”

This feeble attempt to muddy the waters and squirm out of responsibility suggests to us a certain lack of academic rigor. Therefore, we have constructed the syllogism in the poster above, simply following the DKE proposition to its logical conclusion.

New Poster: “Gaia Say Fight: You Are Our Secret Weapon Against The War on Women”

The recent War on Women waged by the American Trailer Park Patriarchs Party is, of course, just the most recent skirmish in a virulent campaign that has being going on at least since a certain Bronze Age thug/goatherd first intoned, “Look, it’s Yahweh or the highway.”

Now, the planet herself is waking and says to you, “Rise up, my children. I am with you. I will strengthen your arm. Strike a blow for freedom. Yours…and mine.”

Here’s Your San Francisco “Fear the Beard” T-shirt, By Request

Looks like the San Francisco Bay Guardian has picked up our joke graphic and started using it as the official bug of the ongoing San Francisco new mayor kerfuffle story, featuring Aaron Peskin. So, for PJ, Delfina, the two peeps in an unnamed city department, and all the other folks who have asked about T-shirts, here’s the link to San Francisco’s own “Fear the Beard” fashion statement.

Keep up with the story in the San Francisco Bay Guardian Blog  here.  And the it continues here. And it’s also now in the print edition.
