Live Video Feed for the “Occupy Wall Street” Protest

This video feed is also showing footage from last night. The aim of this group is to take a lesson from the protesters in Tahrir  Square in Egypt and launch a demonstration that doesn’t simply go away when the day is over.  Today, Sept 17, is Day 2.

To see the video feed click here or click the image above. (The feed sometimes drops for a bit, so if you take a look and it’s not going, check it out a little later.)

You can follow the Twitter stream at  #occupywallstreet and #occupywallstreetnyc

Here are pictures from Day 1.

New Poll: Americans blame Bush for bad economy by a wide margin

It’s good to see that Americans can see causes and effects, and we’re not the flatworms that Fox News and the Republican Party often take us for. A new poll by Quinnipiac University indicates that 54 percent of Americans think Bush is to blame for exploding the federal deficit and swelling unemployment, whereas just 27 percent believe it is President Obama’s fault.

Those figures are bad news for Republicans, who are hoping to use the nation’s poor economic state as a key issue in 2012.

Washington House of Reps member (R), calls the Girl Scouts a “pro-abortion, feminist training corps.”

Your Daily Guffaw: Hans Zeiger, Republican and Washington House of Reps member, has called the Girl Scouts a “pro-abortion, feminist training corps.” As one of the readers on our Facebook page commented, “I hope so!”

Oh, and they’re also atheists and lesbians. Something for everyone. Thanks to Gail Lakritz for this item.  : )

Here’s Mr. Zeiger’s page, in case you’d like to share your thoughts

New Poster: “No Means Yes. Yes Means Anal. Ass-rape a DKE Today. QED.”

You probably haven’t heard about a recent incident involving the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Yale, in which the pledges paraded around campus threatening other students and chanting, “No means yes! Yes means anal!”

Yale University has suspended the DKE chapter for 5 years, but have these extraordinarily privileged young men learned their lesson? Doug Lanpher, interim executive director of DKE, told The New York Times in response to the ruling:

“We suspended their pledging activities for six weeks so we could review their activities with them. Clearly the chanting was inappropriate, but does it warrant a five-year suspension? While the events were insulting and in poor taste, DKE firmly disputes this to be a legally actionable case of sexual harassment.”

This feeble attempt to muddy the waters and squirm out of responsibility suggests to us a certain lack of academic rigor. Therefore, we have constructed the syllogism in the poster above, simply following the DKE proposition to its logical conclusion.

New Poster: “Gaia Say Fight: You Are Our Secret Weapon Against The War on Women”

The recent War on Women waged by the American Trailer Park Patriarchs Party is, of course, just the most recent skirmish in a virulent campaign that has being going on at least since a certain Bronze Age thug/goatherd first intoned, “Look, it’s Yahweh or the highway.”

Now, the planet herself is waking and says to you, “Rise up, my children. I am with you. I will strengthen your arm. Strike a blow for freedom. Yours…and mine.”

New Poster: “Should You Have to Prove To the IRS That You Were Raped?”

Should rape and incest survivors be forced to prove that they were assaulted to the IRS? Amazingly, the Republicans in the House of Representatives have answered with a resounding “Yes!” HR 3, the bill that includes this provision, has now passed in the House.

Here’s how it would work: HR 3 imposes tax penalties on small businesses and individuals who buy abortion coverage with their OWN money—with exceptions only for cases of rape, incest, or when a woman’s life is in danger.

The result? Survivors of rape and incest who seek abortions could be forced to detail their assaults and provide proof to IRS investigators.

Tell the Senate to stand up against this terrible bill, and speak out against the Republican war on women. Please sign the MoveOn.org petition today.

New Poster: “Thanks to the Police, You’re Not Up to Your Ass in Sociopaths.”

I know I’m grateful that I don’t have to track down dangerous thugs and engage in firefights to keep them out of my neighborhood. The local police force and FBI are both aspects of what our government does for us. It’s hard to imagine that the scooter-riding pudding-butts chanting “Shut it down!”  are up for lethal wrestling matches with spry and murderous interstate predators. I wonder just what part of the government they are imagining they would prefer to do without?
